WebJan 12, 2019 · Its taller than the 80-86. User AbandonedBronco points out that the zf boot mounts to the tunnel cover differently than the old 4spd trannys. Its specific to the zf5/m5od. The M5od shifter design however, makes removal on those more difficult than the zf5 equipped trucks. I'm slowly swapping my 96 f350 over to zf5 now.

WebFeb 7, 2011 · The main issue you may have is the ZF to M5OD swap is going to be your master cylinder and slave cylinder, especially if one is external, and the other is internal. Also, ignore these nancys. The M5OD will be fine for a DD. I FLOGGED THE SHIT out of mine in a 1994 F-150 4x4 on 33s running a 300, and it never broke.

Actually, there were some F-250's that came with the 4.9 and the ZF-5. I'm getting ready to buy one as we speak. mjlogan88 said: good luck finding a small block 4x4 ZF.
